The QA Testing Manager for the Commercial Digital department provides leadership and vision to a team of QA Testing Analysts and Automation Developer Analysts to help ensure the quality, performance and excellence of the solutions provided to our business partners. This position is an entry position into the QA Analyst Management track.

Detailed Description:

The individual in this role will lead a team of QA Testing Analyst and Automation Development Analyst professionals who own the development and execution of formal test plans using manual and automated testing processes to ensure the delivery of quality software applications. This individual will manage 3 scrum teams within the payments space of commercial.

To be successful the candidate must be driven and well-organized. It is essential for the individual to be self-motivated and tenacious, thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, provide support during software releases and drive the testing teams to complete tasks on agreed schedules. Senior Management will look to this individual to provide thought and strategic leadership to the team and to work within their segment to promote continuous improvement of all tasks and activities performed by the broader testing team. This individual is expected to lead relationships with the business, internal testing teams and external vendors must have the ability to push back when required. In addition, this individual should be well-rounded and have a broad base of experience within the software development lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Wholly accountable for overseeing the test planning, writing of test cases and scripts, test case automation and test execution activities of a team of QA Testing Analysts and Automation Development Analysts with varying levels of experience
  • Works within their team and across other testing teams to ensure testing strategies are aligned and provide full coverage to the project's requirements
  • Manages and provides direction and the assignment of individual responsibilities to a group of QA Testing Analysts and Automation Development Analysts
  • Coaches and ensures direct reports are capable of analyzing requirements and design deliverables for understanding and quality
  • Coaches and ensures direct reports are capable of creating and executing quality test strategies, test cases and scripts, automating test scripts and performing effective defect management and reporting
  • Regularly attends Scope Review/Big Room Planning to understand cross impacts to their area from both a process and resource perspective
  • Identifies needs, allocates appropriate resources and continually monitors their progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and with the utmost quality
  • Actively pursues issue resolution and communicates project issues to operational management
  • Tailors and sets employee goals and objectives that are in alignment with overarching IT goals but also drive employee and team development
  • Regularly monitors employee performance against their goals and objectives and provides regular feedback regarding progress
  • Possesses the capability to initiate critical conversations regarding employee performance when issues arise
  • Delivers mid-year and year-end reviews within enterprise timelines
  • Meets regularly with team members to communicate enterprise and IT information
  • Works closely with other QA Managers to advance and define best practices, standards, roles and responsibilities, and processes for the QA discipline
  • Works closely with Application Managers, BSA Manager, and other team members to deliver operational excellence drive end business satisfaction
  • Participates in business discovery sessions as needed to aid in the creation of t-shirt and planning estimates with regard to testing activities
  • Works within their segment's team to ensure team members are working in a consistent manner and actively pursues continuous improvement and quality assurance activities
  • Consistently seen as an expert and coach regarding the project lifecycle methodology
  • Leads quality efforts to include mentoring, coaching and development of associates within their team
  • Improves the organization's quality processes through innovative thought leadership and the sharing of ideas within the QA organization
  • Drives the performance of lessons learned analysis to identify and recommend test scope and test approach improvements within their segment



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7 years of QA or UAT testing experience with industry standard testing/development, quality assurance methodologies, verification and validation processes
  • 2 years of coaching and mentoring experience



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess leadership skills and has experience mentoring and coaching QA professionals and QA managers
  • Experience with Quality Management Software and associated processes and standards
  • Strong technical knowledge with a good understanding of software development principles (e.g., object oriented programming), QA Framework/Basic Test Methodology and project lifecycles (e.g., SDLC)
  • Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness and drive to learn and understand business and software solutions
  • Strong leadership, decision-making and execution focused capabilities
  • Experience and demonstrated leadership in managing the efforts of a project's testing teams and working with project teams, business stakeholders, and vendors
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present quality, compliance and risk issues and recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
