Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Highway Engineer to be based in Houston, TX.

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Construction Engineer to work as an Assistant Resident Engineer for a major multi-year bridge reconstruction project near Granite City, IL. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong career in the Construction Engineering and Management industry for roadway and bridges, and have a proven experience of major bridge construction projects especially river crossing in the Mid-West in any capacity. This opportunity can provide a great excel in mid-level construction individual's career who's passionate about bridge construction over water.

Under the supervision of Resident Engineer, the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Project Manager by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, hydrology, and civil engineering design projects
  • Perform professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks
  • Be responsible for the preparation and production of reports, plans, specifications and estimates
  • Be involved in all project aspects from client meetings, design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction
  • Capable of working independently or within (or leading) a design team
  • Excellent communication skills with project team, government agencies and clients

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience designing highway/roadway systems
  • Experience with design software including MicroStation and GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads
  • Experience with ProjectWise and OpenRoads
  • Experience with GeoPak Drainage, SWMM, HY-8, and HEC Programs
  • Familiar with MS Office 2010 software (Excel, Word, Project) is required
  • Must be a team player
