Principal Wireless Architect
Technology has always been a core component of Disney's heritage, from the first multi-plane cameras used to film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, to lifelike robots used in numerous theme park attractions, to MagicBands and on-demand digital content distribution. As our Cast Members and Guests come to expect increasingly available mobile connectivity, so does the reliance on services provided by the Wireless Network Services team as part of Disney Enterprise Technology. Enterprise Technology delivers technology services for major Disney brands such as ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Parks & Resorts, and more. We are looking for a seasoned Principal Wireless Architect who will be responsible for wireless network service architecture, technology strategy, design, and engineering across the Walt Disney Family of companies.
The person in this role must be highly talented and collaborative, and will be responsible for defining wireless technology strategy and architecture, defining technology lifecycle and technology roadmaps, and providing technical leadership for the Wireless Network Services team. This position will collaborate extensively with and provide technical guidance to a team of wireless architects responsible for wireless technology architecture, technology footprint, design and configuration standards, and continuous improvement.
The Principal Wireless Architect will provide business needs assessment and estimation, solution design, solution automation, and resolution of advanced and persistent issues. They may also participate on and lead selected projects and work with external vendors and internally with other operations teams, IT architecture teams and different business units. This technical leader will interface with peers across the company in the development of technology strategies and designs. This position will be a role within the Wireless Network Services team and take direction from the Director of Wireless Network Services.
Responsibilities :
- Define architecture and standards for wireless controller cores and networks
- Collaborate with other principals to define architecture for key projects, evaluate vendors and solutions, and select architecture platforms
- Partner with key stakeholders to deliver and operationalize high speed attractions wireless and dedicated specialty wireless solutions
- Partner with vendors and stakeholders to develop, test, and implement new and innovative wireless capabilities
- Monitor service health, assess outages and related RCA's, approve resulting architecture and configuration changes, and incorporate adjustments into wireless technology architecture, roadmaps, standards, and strategy
- Coach and mentor high potential team members to aid their career growth
- Communicate technology architecture and strategies expertly to multiple audiences from executive to engineer
- Exercise influence with key stakeholders and other technology teams to drive results
- Stay up to date on emerging wireless technologies and trends, and provide guidance on long term direction
Basic Qualifications :
- Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years' experience managing wireless networks in a very large enterprise environment (20,000+ devices)
- Minimum 15 years' experience in a large enterprise technology leadership role
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment and provide technical leadership to teams of exempt-level technical experts
- Expert at setting technology strategy and managing technology roadmaps
- Superior technical leadership skills, able to communicate vision and set technical direction for teams of senior network architects
- Expert communication skills including documentation and executive presentations
- Ability to build consensus among internal and external stakeholders

ITIL v3 Expert Certification
Required Education :
Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent
Preferred Education :
Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Technology Management, or equivalent
