About the job
This Solutions Engineer will be responsible for focusing on Twilio SendGrid Email API. The Solutions Engineer is responsible for delivering the technical win and product fit at customer accounts. They build customer trust in Twilio SendGrid solutions, which results in customer success in the post-sale. The Principal Solutions Engineer leads the technical pre-sales relationship, proposes technical architectures, demonstrates the product, anticipates concerns, and offers creative solutions.
The Solutions Engineer is both highly technical and a skilled relationship builder. They are comfortable showing an engaging communications experience to a CEO or sketching out an API flow on a whiteboard with customer software engineers.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Help customers achieve success by leading the technical and product sale, recommending best-practice solutions, and guiding them on how to use Twilio’s APIs.
Owns the technical sales process from qualification to technical win by performing excellent discovery and helping demonstrate the best way to use Twilio products to achieve (and often exceed) their goals.
Hands-on, high-energy, passionate, and creative problem solver with know how to get things done and ability to lead others to success.
Takes the initiative to identify and solve problem - both for the customer and within the organization as we grow
Builds highly interactive and engaging customer demonstrations while forming strong customer relationships

Required:
8+ years demonstrated success in a consultative technical sales role
Technical sales experience with SaaS software solutions and/or email service providers
App development experience with common web ecosystem technology stacks and modern, general purpose programming languages such as Java, .Net, Ruby, Python, PHP, and JavaScript
REST API development experience
Familiarity with email marketing, deliverability and infrastructure (such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
Background in marketing or customer communications
Experience with implementing and managing SMTP, DNS and email infrastructure
Knowledge of industry best practices for: email reputation factors, engagement based sending, ISP specific filtering and logic
IP and domain based sending and how it affects reputation
Working knowledge of symptoms and causes of negative effects of poor reputation (spam placement, blacklisting, spam traps, etc)
Ability to convey business and technical value of Twilio/Sendgrid products
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
Desired:
Third level qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a comparable field desired
Location
This role will be remote based in the USA.
Approximately 25%> travel is anticipated.

Colorado applicants:
The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $123,840 (Developing minimum or Colorado)- $154,800 (Premium Mid for Denver Metro).
Sales Commission: Additionally, this role is eligible to earn commissions and eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
