Mission of the Position
The Power Electronics Test Engineer will test DC-AC power electronics for Magna Powertrain. This person will utilize established approaches and best practices to create to lead and the execution of the functional testing and the end of the line testing. The candidate will lead a cross-functional task that requires efficient communication between the electrical, mechanical, and software design engineers.
As an Intermediate level engineer, the engineer will work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using knowledge and judgement to make adaptations and modifications.
Key Responsibilities

• Understand design requirements from system and component level and capture them in a Component Technical Specification.
• Establish the necessary test rigs based on the project test requirements, this includes the test rig bring up and commissioning such as Double Pule Testing (DPT) and Emulator Testing.
• Develop the test plans with support from the design engineers to be executed by the test team for both, High Power and control components.
• Develop the necessary reports and documentation to lead to a successful production with a high yield.
• Provide technical insight to the build team.
• Establish a road map to expand the testing capabilities for the power electronic group.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's in electrical engineering - power area, with +3 years of hands-on experience in building/testing power components.
• In-depth understanding of Inverter operation and motor control.
• In-depth experience in debugging low voltage circuits (control components).
• Knowledge of embedded programming in order to create test scripts by using Programmable lab equipment.
• Experience in standard lab equipment such as power analyzer, oscilloscope, etc.
• In-depth understanding of the safety protocol required in a high voltage/power laboratory
• Worked on manufacturing on high-volume power electronic production.
• Established power electronic high voltage lab experience.
• Established leadership skills to drive activities in the lab (other members on the organization, suppliers, etc) and keeping track of test plans.
• Ability to work onsite.

Work Environment
Office environment; 10% travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
