As an NPI PCA Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the prototype assembly of SIG designed PCA (printed circuit assembly) products. This will include mechanical assembly of the prototype PCA products. You will work directly with the SIG development engineering team to validate the initial prototype assemblies and develop best practice assembly procedures and processes. You will work with the SIG development engineering team to define power up, programming, calibration and test processes for SIG designed PCA products. You will provide input into the development of diagnostic tools that will be used to test and debug printed circuit assemblies. You will be responsible for documenting critical assembly and process steps. You will work directly with the local SIG Operations team and contract manufacturing team members to provide training for the calibration and test fixtures. You will be the first point of contact for the local SIG Operations team members to escalate to when there are calibration, test and debug issues.
Job Responsibilities and Expectations:
Prototype PCA Assembly and Test

  • Work with the SIG development engineering team to complete assembly of PCA products.
  • Collaborate with the SIG development engineering team to complete prototype testing of PCA products.
  • Develop PCA calibration and test processes for assigned products.
  • Provide detailed feedback and suggestions to the SIG development engineering team to improve the manufacturability, maintainability and reliability of SIG designed PCA products.
  • Complete the calibration and test process of the initial prototype quantity of boards prior to transferring to a contract manufacturer.


PCA Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Become proficient with diagnostic tools used to troubleshoot assigned products.
  • Utilize electrical schematics to efficiently troubleshoot component level issues on assigned products.
  • Develop troubleshooting processes to be utilized by the repair centers.
  • Perform failure analysis and detailed failure analysis reports for repeating issues.


Repair Center Oversight

  • Provide troubleshooting, calibration and repair training to repair centers for assigned products.
  • Monitor repair data and metrics for assigned products from all repair centers.
  • First point of contact for PCA troubleshooting and repair questions from the repair centers.
  • Coordinate diagnostic and calibration software updates with repair centers.
  • Coordinate SWR releases and training with repair centers.
  • Travel to repair centers as needed to provide all aspects of training and support.


CM Test and Troubleshooting Support

  • Provide calibration, test and troubleshooting training to the local SIG CM support team and contract manufacturing sites.
  • First point of contact for PCA manufacturing and test issues escalated from the SIG Operations team and contract manufacturing sites.
  • Travel to contract manufacturing sites as needed to provide all aspects of training and support.
  • Coordinate diagnostic and calibration software updates with the manufacturing sites.


Assembly and Test Documentation

  • Document critical process and assembly steps.
  • Document calibration and test processes for assigned PCA products.
  • Utilize document control processes to ensure documentation is properly saved and retained.


Safety

  • Follow all site safety processes and procedures.
  • Utilize JHA processes when needed.
  • Consistently perform job responsibilities with safety as a priority.
  • Maintain work area in an organized and orderly state in accordance to Micron's 6S program and ESD policies.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field
  • Must have a high level of self-motivation and be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong soft skills and ability to work with diverse cultures, nationalities and personality types.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Ability to work with a variety of internal and external team members, including all disciplines of development engineering and CMs.
  • Strong component level PCA troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with common lab tools including oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, etc..
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to document critical assembly, test and troubleshooting steps.
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel and Power Point required.
  • Must be proficient with common hand tools.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to train others on new processes.
  • Soldering and PCA repair skills.
