Job Summary:

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The Land Warfare and Missile Defense (LWMD) Department supports RMD by providing world class technical expertise and engineering leadership to drive the design and development of world-class Air and Missile Defense Systems, Sensors, and Effectors. The LWMD department leads all aspects of Systems Engineering that drive the development of complex systems to support RMD's Land Warfare and Air Defense (LWAD) and Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) mission areas from our Huntsville, AL location.

LWMD Department Systems Engineers solve technical challenges at the System of System (SoS), System, Subsystem, and Component levels. Key technical domains include: Architecture, Requirements, Interface Definition, Radar Systems, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, and Battlespace Integration and Interoperability for Domestic and International customers.

We are currently hiring a MDS Sr Principal Software Engineer-Distributed Simulation (Sr Principal Systems Engineer) for our Huntsville, AL location.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

As an MDS Sr Principal Software Engineer - Distributed Simulation, you will use developed simulations to conduct performance analyses (RF sensors, kill vehicle, discrimination, and/or sensor resource management) within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) architecture. Additionally, you will coordinate analysis activities and products with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks. In this role, you will document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives. As a member of a team, you will:

• Lead development of performance concepts and requirements, lead development of approaches for improved design requirements to include recommended architectural improvements
• Lead modeling and simulation tasks that support end-to-end performance analysis for advanced radar functionality and performance against evolving threats and countermeasures, including track and discrimination, electronic attack, and mitigation techniques against electronic attack.

An active and current DoD US Security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), minimum of 10+ years of experience in the field of engineering or related technical discipline.
• Experience with numerical modeling and simulation capability of advanced threats using a high level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, or similar language environment
• Strong preference to candidates that have experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).

Qualifications We Value:

• Advanced degree in EE, CE, Physics, Math, ME, Aerospace.
• Experience in radar function and performance (including tracking, discrimination techniques, and electronic attack/electronic protection techniques), kill vehicle performance, and/or sensor resource management (or similar optimization problem set)
• Understanding of performance parameters, technical performance measures, methods and techniques definition, sensors, missiles, interceptors, detection/tracking, or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.) analysis is desired.
• Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
• Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems ((e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.), a discriminator in selection).
• Experience developing and running distributed interactive simulations (DIS).
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and discussions. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working both independently leading a team of talented engineers to perform highly technical work, and communicating significant results to senior management, executives, and government stakeholders.
• Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems.
• Experience developing technical solutions to complex challenges.
• Experience conducting operations research analyst with systems engineering experience.
