Come join the team at Intuit as a Software Engineering Manager 2 in Site Reliability Engineering.

Site Reliability Engineering works to ensure that TurboTax.com, Mint.com and other Intuit products are highly-available, scale without bottlenecks, and offer world-class performance.

This role will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers, building platforms and tools to automate various reliability engineering activities including chaos, performance, load, cost optimization, and capacity management. In this role, you will get the opportunity to drive company-wide initiative for best practices and standards on operational excellence. This includes resilient system design and development, chaos testing, performance and load testing, observability, progressive rollouts, incident recovery and root cause analysis process.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related technical field involving programming), or equivalent work experience
  • Experience building high performing teams.
  • Experience in leading teams in the areas of reliability engineering.
  • Experience in leading company wide initiatives
  • Proven experience in the ability to influence others, outside of the team.
  • Proficiency with AWS technologies (NAT Gateway, EC2, ALB/NLB, Cloud watch, IAM, VPC, Route53 etc)
  • Strong understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
  • Exposure to writing high quality Java, Python and/or GO code
  • Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.
  • 4+ years of experience with leading software development or working knowledge of software development. Open-source development is a plus.



How you will lead

  • Build and lead a team of strong engineers in developing tools and platforms in reliability engineering, including chaos, performance and load testing.
  • Be the companywide change catalyst in driving best practices for operational excellence.
  • Lead the development of observability components for massive scale platforms, in order to detect issues quickly and isolate the problem as part of fast recovery.
  • Lead engineers in building tools to enable platform consumers to troubleshoot and triage issues in a self-serve mode.
  • Lead the performance testing for the platform, focusing on responsiveness and optimal resource usage.
  • Lead the FMEA (Failure Mode Effective Analysis) and Chaos Engineering for critical platform components, identifying resiliency gaps and prepare the team for faster recovery from production incidents.
  • Lead the troubleshooting of complex issues, and management of stakeholder's expectations during incidents while troubleshooting.
  • Develop partnership with product management, central infrastructure, tools, network engineering, software engineering and other related groups to improve the efficiency of large-scale distributed infrastructure.
  • Understand and contribute to technical architecture, capacity plans, tooling plans for prioritizing technical and resource challenges.
  • Lead contribution to open-source projects (Kubernetes, Keiko, Argo etc.)
  • Supporting and coaching other engineers, pair programming or peer reviewing code, helping to ensure that all engineers are growing and part of a community.
  • Drive and own Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for specific applications.
