Position Summary:

Our IT engineering teams build and run the capabilities that enable our businesses. Building and maintaining healthy architectures is a critical component of technical quality. We are seeking an experienced technical architect to lead our architecture processes across our IT engineering teams.

We are looking for a thought leader, technical expert, and strong communicator to fill this role in our global IT team reporting to the VP of IT Engineering. Qualified individuals must be experienced in working on complex projects involving multiple IT and business teams.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead architecture activities across our engineering teams.

    1. Run collaborative architecture workshops to gather requirements and design solutions.
    2. Partner with business and IT teams to design solutions and oversee implementation.
    3. Create and validate future state architectures.
    4. Develop and lead strategies for implementing architectural changes.
    5. Lead and manage a monthly architecture review process in IT.

  2. Shift security left - Ensure security is considered early in the process.

    1. Treat security as a 1st-class architectural concern and work with teams to build it in.
    2. Work with the IT security team to define and promote security principles and standards.

  3. Foster innovation - Look ahead and lead innovation processes in IT.

    1. Research and recommend emerging technologies to drive innovation and automation.
    2. Run bi-annual innovation hackathon across global IT.
    3. Mentor other technical experts in engineering and architectural practices.


The Lead architect will also perform other tasks as required. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the tasks listed on this job description.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a technical lead, solutions architect, or related role
  • Previous experience leading technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly exchange ideas with various technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to clearly convey concepts / solutions to the business in non-technical terms
  • Ability to identify and document business architectures
  • Demonstrated experience in many of the following:

    • Development Process: Agile, Scrum, DevOps
    • Development platforms / languages: .NET, Python, Javascript, SQL
    • Integration: APIs, REST, SOA, microservices, event based systems, materialized views
    • Cloud platforms: Azure, Google, AWS
    • Data and analytics: Data lake, BI architectures, predictive modeling, reporting and analytical tools


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data modeling
  • Experience implementing DevOps automation
  • Experience working with ERP platforms and teams, preferably SAP
  • Experience managing and supporting a solution infrastructure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, self-directed
  • Previous experience in programming or core software engineering
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple priorities at the same time
