Reporting to the Director of Engineering -The Software Engineer Lead will be part of a small development squad on this highly mission-driven, innovative healthcare technology platform focused on developing our search and knowledge graph solutions. Our squads enjoy full autonomy regarding how they go about delivering against long and short-term goals, helping to ensure alignment and quality.

This project enjoys a particularly high-profile within Elsevier and you will be supported to grow your development/engineering skills in collaboration with our diverse, supportive team.

Preferred experience and technology requirements:
  • Experience as a Technical Lead, or Senior Engineer with steadily increasing responsibilities including mentoring and some project leadership.
  • Experience with Solr or Elasticsearch is desirable
  • Strong hands-on, application development experience using Java.
  • Experience developing APIs.
  • Experience developing for the cloud (AWS/Azure).
  • Experience building unit tests.
  • Strong communication skills.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • People management for 2-4 engineers.
  • Interface with team members to finalize requirements.
  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
