It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work onsite for three (3) or more days a week and will have a dedicated workspace when working onsite. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

About this Role:

The Lead Developer, Technology is responsible for collaborating with the Delivery team to ensure the solutions developed will deliver value and improve the quality of the software. This includes partnering with the Systems Analyst and Testers on the Delivery team to define tasks and provide final estimates for User Stories. The Developers are responsible for attending and participating in all Scrum ceremonies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture to modernize our Card Ecosystem and infuse our Commercial and Consumer Products with digital capabilities
  • Participate and engage in COEs (Centers of Excellence) to lead agile teams in the adoption of technology standards and best practices with a focus on reusability, scalability, resiliency and security.
  • Technology Steward - Identify technology needs and work with the Squad Leadership to prioritize those needs with other business objectives. Ensure we are delivering on technology-value in addition to business-value.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture to apply/define architecture principals for current and future stacks
  • Design client-side and server-side architecture. Influence and guide the use of Mobile best practices
  • Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design
  • Ability to work with a variety of mixed skills: analysts, business owners, designers, other developers, peer application development teams.
  • Flexibility and the ability to switch gears to adjust to team strengths and changing requirements.
  • An emphasis on working with the team, rather than alone.
  • A desire to achieve team consensus and shared understanding.
  • Test software, both manual and automated, to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and debug software
  • Create security and data protection settings



To be successful in this role, you'll need experience in several of the following:

  • Kotlin, Dagger, JetPack, Fastlane, Firebase
  • Success shipping at least one Android app to the Play Store or one iOS app to the Apple Store
  • Experience with RxJava, RxKotlin, RXSwift, Swift, SwiftUI or Reactive Programming
  • Experience interacting with REST APIs is a plus
  • Experience with functional programming paradigms - lambdas, streams
  • Experience with unit and end to end testing, TDD a plus
  • Working knowledge of Git and GitLab CI
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle, SQLServer) and web servers (e.g. Apache, nginx)
  • Experience with software design principles as well as UI prototype design. Experience with MIRO is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Test-Driven and Behavior-Driven Development
  • Ability to write quality unit, functional and automated tests
  • Knowledge of Gradle, Apache Maven, Apache ANT is desirable
