The IP Engineering Manager leads the IP Engineering Access Team responsible for design, testing and deployment of new and existing Access technologies across Cable One's Network Infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set forth below is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities (or "essential functions") of this position.

  • Oversees the design and implementation of new network solutions to improve the efficiency of current network deliveries by testing code, completing projects and managing lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Manages the department's capital budget; Negotiates hardware pricing and procures network equipment for new and evolving technologies.
  • Balances resource time across team and ensures alignment with business priorities.
  • Tracks key project milestones, attends project status meetings, removes roadblocks, and creates urgency so project deadlines are met. Provides regular updates to project stakeholders and executives.
  • Stays current on relevant industry technologies such as Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS), Photonic Optical Networks, Routing, Metro Ethernet, and emerging technologies. Helps define technology roadmaps to ensure proper growth, scale and timing.
  • Holds vendors accountable for supporting Engineering teams, coordinates quarterly report-out meetings, and ensures internal contracts are established and updated including Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Identifies areas of improvement, implements plan for improvement, provides flow charts and standard operating procedure (SOP) documents to establish new processes and policies within the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is directly responsible for managing 10 non-supervisory associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training associates; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Cultivates, pursues and promotes a culture of continued excellence through individual and team growth.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and a minimum of two years related experience.
  • Additional experience and/or training may substitute for education.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • One or more of the following certifications preferred:
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Six Sigma
    • Lean IT



ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or other project management tools.
  • Experience bringing new technologies and products to market.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean IT, Agile, and Six Sigma.
  • Experience managing multiple service offering or service provider networks.
  • Experience configuring or managing network devices.
  • Ability to drive efficiencies, quality and on-time delivery in fast paced environment.
