Position Overview

Autodesk Construction Solutions (ACS) is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Cloud Engineering team in our Infrastructure group. This team is responsible for managing provisioning and configuration tools and services that enable application developers to deliver software quickly and reliably multiple times a day, while meeting the security and reliability needs of our customers. Cloud Engineering's goal is to wrangle the world of provisioning and managing cloud systems and make it easier for developers to manage their service needs independently.

Responsibilities

• Build observability into every aspect of our production infrastructure
• Reduce and measure RPO/RTO for our Datastore instances
• Develop tooling and services for development teams to self-serve their own needs
• Perform database maintenance tasks like coordinating major version upgrades
• Run regular events to verify the platform's guarantees and validate the team's runbooks

We adhere to a DevOps methodology where developers, not operations people, are responsible for their code's reliable operation and where developers are empowered and trusted to make the changes necessary for reliability.

• Help finish our transition from legacy Cloudformation configuration into Terraform
• Build tooling and services to automate the upgrade of Postgres servers
• Automate password rotation system for stateful services
• Proactively push slow queries, missing indexes, and performance metrics to development teams to provide insights
• Create APIs to facilitate the requests made of your team, instead of handling in person or manual requests
• Update documentation to keep up with changes brought on by these projects
• Work to improve the testability of our internal infrastructure codebases
• Move us closer to a world of rigorously tested immutable infrastructure
• Integrate with other teams in ACS Infrastructure to streamline self-service workflows for developers

Minimum Qualifications

• Expertise developing platforms with AWS Database, Caching and Queuing systems
• Successful implementation of SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs for services
• Can instrument observability in distributed systems, and proactive alerting
• Experience scaling out cloud systems in multiple regions worldwide
• Has contributed to large projects and helped execute successfully
• Organized and great communicator

Preferred Qualifications

DevOps and systems experience is highly valued. Nice to have experience would be any of the following

• Package and configuration management
• Infrastructure-as-code principles
• Kubernetes, AWS and Linux internals and APIs
• Industry security certifications and processes (eg: SOC2, FedRAMP, etc)
• Heavy use of Docker, Bash, and/or Python
• Git or similar source code revision control systems
