Global Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer - Vehicle Systems
Description
As a Global Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for the communication of, and adherence to, the General Assembly Manufacturing Strategies in the Advanced Vehicle Development Process. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and integration of the General Assembly Manufacturing systems for new vehicle programs pre-DSI/STA through CSO/GO
- Lead the integration of advanced technology into new vehicle programs where and when appropriate
- Lead the generation of BOP/BOE migration planning for all brownfield sites (Plan for Every Site)
- Drive new vehicle programs into a high degree of BOP/BOE compliance
- Provide leadership to generate the best possible processing solutions that balance investment, piece cost, manpower, floor space, timing, etc. for new vehicle programs
- Develop lean investment targets for all programs within a given architecture
- Drive the leanest total cost for all programs within a given architecture
- Actively pursue a balanced BOP, BOE, Automation, and Vision that yields the most efficient product at the leanest capital investment
- Establish Program Specific Strategic Direction
- Direct / coordinate GA Manufacturing Strategies to be implemented on programs with a given architecture
- Lead Program Timing Development - Establish critical integration dates for the program
- Evaluate Global Peer Reviews for all programs within a given architecture
- Lead the implementation of competitive initiatives for "gotta have" vehicles that balance GA design features and manufacturing requirements
- Coordinate with Centers outside GA to ensure a comprehensive approach when responding to an MPS or MS
- Responsible for coordinating team members within VSME (i.e. Processing, Execution, PPI, Paint, Automation, Controls, Install, etc.) to ensure all parties are aligned to ensure the best appropriate responses to the MPS/MS
- Develop and construct formulated responses to Manufacturing Planning Studies
- Work across the organization to remove roadblocks for the success of the team
- Complete and maintain the Plan for Every Site (PFES) for General Motors North American Operations assigned plants
- Work involves a considerable amount of creativity and perception and a high level of independent discernment in making decisions
- Be the liaison between the department and associated departments to provide technical services
- Present to all levels of Leadership within different forums for the task at hand
Additional Description
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 years of General Assembly program execution experience including process, design, build, integration, installation and launch
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Highly motivated, self-starter, adaptable and effective in various working team environments.
- Team player who can lead cross-functional groups and has a cross-cultural skill set
- High level of analytical ability to resolve problems that are very complex and unusual
- High level of interpersonal and negotiating skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present finding to all levels of the organization
- Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical concepts
- Ability to manage multiple high priority assignments simultaneously
- High level of cross-functional knowledge in General Assembly manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) including process and product deliverables and interfaces
- Familiar with the Global Production Launch Process and have participated in major program launches from pre-production through Launch Team Release
- Knowledgeable and able to implement Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) principles (i.e. GMS Scorecard)
- Demonstrated ability of dealing with ambiguity to enable timely decision making
- Travel will be required
- This position is not available for ISP, ITAP or localizations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Vehicle Development Process
- Manufacturing Operations experience
- Advanced Degree in Engineering
