Our Vision:

At Neo4j, we have always strived to help the world make sense of data.

As business, society and knowledge become increasingly connected, our technology promotes innovation by helping organizations to find and understand data relationships. We created, drive and lead the graph database category, and we’re disrupting how organizations leverage their data to innovate and stay competitive.

We build and maintain software that provides excellent user experiences for people learning graph for the first time, and we're looking for someone who can help, who has a passion for building cool things and assisting others in learning!

With a ten year history we've created and grown the graph database category. Neo4j has over fifty million downloads, the world’s largest graph developer community, and thousands of graph-powered applications in production. With our recently launched cloud services we're opening new possibilities for our users and the company to take the next step in making using graphs easier and more widespread.

Our Community

One of the most important and foundational parts of Neo4j’s growth is our user community. Our user community is important for our users and our success. Only by growing to a larger, more supportive and active community can we scale graph usage to the levels we envision. In developer relations engineering, you'll be building systems that help us do just this.

What we are looking for:

Our ideal candidate would be an experienced full stack engineer who loves to learn new things and build for users. We'll be giving you autonomy to make key design decisions on how our systems operate. We strongly encourage under-represented groups to apply.

You are a technologist and engineer first and foremost - you will be critical in designing and implementing systems and working with DevOps team members to deploy and operate systems. Some familiarity with full-stack development is necessary, but we're looking for someone who has a strong set of back-end skills and isn't afraid of working with AWS lambda-based APIs, docker containers, EKS, and working in multi-language environments that might include python, node, and others.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Developer Relations, you'll work with a distributed remote-first team in developer relations.

The types of things you will be doing include:

  • Improving the back-end of our Neo4j Sandbox offering to include new features for data science notebooks such as Jupyter
  • Working with cloud providers like AWS to determine infrastructure & service needs
  • Executing integrations between developer relations platforms and other Neo4j products, such as AuraDB
  • Provide feedback on our products internally, such as python drivers, bindings, GDS, and database capabilities to help us improve the feedback loop between what users need and what Neo4j deliver

  • We look at the success of roles in developer relations in terms of helping to grow our community and get to user success. In a few months, you will have learned about graph technology and how we teach it. You will have pushed changes that impact production systems that are used by thousands of users per week.

Must-Haves:

  • Substantial experience with back-end software development
  • AWS technologies like lambda, S3, CloudFront, etc.
  • A background or degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Technical writing skills, as shown through any form of past written work

"Nice to have" skills that are not required but that we can help you build:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, and Devops approaches
  • Experience with graphs, graph databases, or Neo4j
  • Affinity for, or previous contributions to open source projects
  • History of participation in software or data science communities, in any form
