The Personalization team makes deciding what to play next easier and more enjoyable for every listener. From Daily Mix to Discover Weekly, we’re behind some of Spotify’s most-loved features. We built them by understanding the world of music and podcasts better than anyone else. Join us and you’ll keep millions of users listening by making great recommendations to each and every one of them. We ask that our team members be physically located in Central European time or Eastern Standard/Daylight time zones for the purposes of our collaboration hours.

The Voice product area in Personalization builds technologies to unlock Voice experiences across the Spotify ecosystem. As Voice as an input modality grows we see unique opportunities to meet users' needs and create new habits.

Join us as we build unique and personalized voice driven experiences into the Spotify Android and iOS apps, expand these experiences into new geos, and start to embed personalized ML (like Wakeword, on-device speech recognition, TTS) into the clients.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team focused on Mobile Voice. This team is building experiences like ‘Hey Spotify’, CarMode and supporting new hardware initiatives like CarThing. • Be a leader on the team, taking accountability for delivery and technological health.
  • Technological coaching in everything from architectural vision to metrics driven operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with product management in setting and executing against the right goals.
  • Give leadership to other efforts that fit your passion and Spotify’s needs via collaboration with other managers and engineers in the product area, or wider teams across Spotify.

Who You Are

  • You communicate effectively with peers, direct reports and leadership and bring clarity and focus to your sphere of influence.
  • You insist on high standards and thrive when helping individuals develop to be their best.
  • You are passionate about mobile app development, and have an in-depth understanding of the iOS and Android ecosystems.
  • You have experience developing mobile products as an individual contributor.
  • You understand the value of agile development in enabling highly effective teams.
  • You personally model traits like agency, autonomy, ownership and growth-mindset for your colleagues.
  • You are able to lean into ambiguity and make pragmatic decisions based on incomplete information when necessary.

Where You'll Be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
  • Prefer an office to work from home instead? Not a problem! We have plenty of options for your working preferences. Find more information about our Work From Anywhere options here.
