We think differently and utilize our content in new ways that our team builds unique on-platform experiences that engage users and attract new audiences to Spotify. Our work is guided by experimentation, where the engineering team is deeply involved in the ideation part of the process and is responsible for building technical solutions. We work together with product management, user researchers, data scientists, and designers to build and validate hypotheses around new opportunities for growth.


We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of our user-facing teams of iOS, Android and Backend engineers. You will play a meaningful role in growing and developing the engineers into a healthy and high-performing team, continuously improving our engineering practices, and delivering state-of-the-art technology while keeping it fun. As a result, you will have a direct and measurable impact on the future growth of Spotify!


Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music and podcasts.

What you'll do

  • You will be working closely with product, insights, and design to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution
  • You will help to cultivate agile methodologies and foster a culture of sustainable tech health
  • You will ensure the team has a sound technology strategy
  • You will build and lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • You will grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with our values

Who you are

  • You’re passionate about software engineering practices and love to have an impact on large-scale tech problems
  • You are experienced with leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring individuals and teams
  • You have previous experience delivering products in an agile development environment at scale
  • You have a quality mindset, delivering high-quality products and supporting others to maintain a high standard 
  • You are comfortable working collaboratively on a cross-discipline team. Working project-based, and also driving delivery on small to medium-sized initiatives
  • You have a growth mindset, you embrace challenges and celebrate wins as well as failures

Where you'll be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location
  • We ask that our team members be located within Central Standard time zone, Eastern Standard time zone, or Brasília time zone for the purposes of our collaboration hours
