Engineering Group Manager- Advanced Battery Cell Engineering
Description
We are seeking an Engineering Manager for the Advanced Battery Cell engineering department. This team is responsible for the application, and integration of multiple battery cell designs on multiple electrification programs and ATWs. As a people leader, you'll be responsible for the product, process, tools, and team training. You'll manage workload models, resources and business system as well as year over year productivity enhancements. You'll also lead cell design workflow that is integrated with the Advanced Battery Cell group and also support cell integration into Module and Pack, Release, Battery Technology, and Battery Validation.
This Role Offers the Following Work Appropriately Strategy: Hybrid.
This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design and development of advanced GM battery cells
- Provide leadership and direction to battery cell Technical Review Boards (TRBs), Change Control Board (CCB), and advanced technical work groups
- Lead people resources and work alignment (visibility of projects & workload)
- Develop, document and implement standard work and best practices
- Recruit and attract top talent to meet staffing targets
- Highlight & implement strategies to foster GM behavioral characteristics
- Provide opportunities for career growth and professional development
- Lead employee performance through timely candid constructive feedback and the CAP process
- Develop strategic action plans to support business goals
- Responsible for budget requirements and compliance
- Lead group to release battery cells per Process of Engineering work
- Support root cause of issues by collaborating with applicable engineering organizations
- Provide periodic status reviews to the GSSLT, Leadership/core PDT & SMT
Additional Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
- 8+ years of related engineering experience
- High level of interest in the future of vehicle propulsion systems
- Ability to work non-standard hours to collaborate with overseas suppliers
- Ability to travel internationally as necessary
- Functional knowledge of engineering budgeting process
- Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints
- Ability to network and run effective meetings with diverse participants
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or MBA
- Previous people leader and/or project leader experience
- Experience in electrified propulsions systems
- Experience in balancing and mitigating risks with projects, suppliers, quality, and production
