The Core structures team is looking for an experienced structures engineer to lead and execute technical tasks centered around low cycle fatigue, burst & overspeed and crack growth. The ability to derive creative solutions to challenging problems while remaining conservative is crucial. The role provides unique opportunity to interact with Aftermarket, MRO, Module Centers and engine program leadership in all phases of development. Core Structures is responsible with developing and maintaining World Class lifing tools allowing module centers to design and analyze some of the most sophisticated gas turbine engine components for today's advanced commercial and military aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis in support of all phases of life model development including specimen data regression, failure analysis, component validation and authority certification in areas of: Low Cycle Fatigue, High Cycle Fatigue, Thermal Mechanical Fatigue, Aqueous and Hot Corrosion Fatigue, Burst & Overspeed, Surface Damage Tolerance, Crack Growth, Probabilistics.
  • Support field investigations.
  • Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate component and specimen capabilities.
  • Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
  • Document analysis results and present conclusions to PW management and external customers.
  • Initial responsibilities would include learning and development to become one of the focal for the team's 3D crack growth process. (Prior knowledge of Franc3D would be beneficial)
  • Support field investigations.

  • Document analysis results and present conclusions to PW management and external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5+ years' prior relevant experience.
  • Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
  • Advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Finite Element Experience
  • Numerical methods experience with either MATLAB or equivalent
  • US Citizenship due to government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3+ years' experience.
  • Active security clearance, or ability to get one.
  • Strong communication and task coordination skills.
