About the job

As the Director of Infrastructure Security, you will lead cloud security, enterprise security and datacenter security through short-term and long-term roadmaps. These roadmaps are intended to modernize and further secure all areas through the most practical and sustainable improvements, and unify all domains under your purview. Doing this well means Twilio maintains and deepens our customer trust through this comprehensive infrastructure-security program.

This individual would also be responsible for working with our key infrastructure partners including R&D, M&A and IT to build and own long-term strategy to secure these environments.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

• Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong and productive partnerships with our key stakeholders, especially R&D, M&A and IT, enabling our teams to regularly leverage these partnerships to address critical and systemic infrastructure risks.

• Grow a comprehensive infrastructure security program founded on the same engineering principles as our R&D counterparts. This program will span public cloud, data center, and corporate infrastructure security, and it will have clear security priorities defined to articulate the biggest bang for our buck.

• Support and develop our existing infrastructure security leaders through high-quality career development plans, program values, program clarity, and individual coaching. This includes helping our teams maintain a healthy balance between strategic and tactical initiatives.

• Become an expert at leveraging quantitative data and meaningful metrics to guide program decisions, educate stakeholders, measure program operations and overall health.

• Scale our security programs through automation, software, tools, training, and initiatives vs being mostly dependent on scaling horizontally through large headcount asks.

• Care deeply about creating teams that model psychological safety and inclusivity, where engineers can do their best work. Foster an inclusive environment, where all points of view are welcomed and encouraged. Your teams’ NPS of leadership will be high.

• Manage a large portfolio of security program deliverables, track and report on budgets, timelines, dependencies, and conflicts.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proven history of developing successful infrastructure security programs spanning AWS and data centers

• Experience developing partnerships with R&D leaders and/or IT to create and execute multi-year roadmaps

• Comfortable with leveraging software tools/scripts to query data warehouses and other data repositories to pull and leverage security metrics

• 8+ years of experience in security and/or software engineering, at least 5 years of management experience and 2+ years of managing other managers

Desired:

• Capable of being hands on and providing technical mentorship where necessary

• Experience in building programs from scratch and through inheritance

Location 

This role will be remote, and based in the USA.

Approximately 5-10% travel is anticipated.

• The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $177,024 - 243,408

• Sales Commission: Additionally, this role is eligible to earn commissions and eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

• Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
