The Pricing, Monetization and Market Design team is responsible for the platform that enables Upwork to more effectively govern matching between clients and freelancers through incremental fees. While providing an additional revenue stream, the true purpose of your team is to create a more equitable playing field for our customers, thereby making our marketplace more efficient and successful. We’re in the early days when it comes to advertising and expect a significant impact on the success of the business through the right investment in this area. The team works closely with product managers, designers and economists in managing our large marketplace which facilitated $875M of gross services volume during Q2’2021 alone.

You’ll be leading and growing our pricing and advertising teams to build and expand a portfolio of products. Together with your Product, Design and Economist partners, you’ll refine a strategy and define a roadmap to drive execution with teams across Upwork. Your Responsibilities:

• Co-lead the company’s Monetization product strategy. You will participate actively with product and business counterparts to define the long term plan and product roadmap.

• Provide technical and people leadership to engineers and managers.

• Work with different application and infrastructure teams to deliver Monetization and Advertising products across the Upwork’s platform.

• Responsible for hiring, mentoring, and managing a team of top-notch globally distributed engineers.

• Drive on time delivery and execution of key projects while maintaining superior quality and high site uptime.

What it takes to catch our eye:

• Deep understanding of cloud hosted microservices and data driven platforms at scale.

• Extensive experience in building large teams and ideally managing managers.

• Hands-on experience with Monetization or AdTech platforms.

• Leading engineering teams across multiple time zones.
