Design Release Engineer - Clusters
Description
The Cluster (Gauges) Application Lead Engineer / Design Release Engineer is responsible for leading design and release for current and future instrument clusters, representing clusters for the program and to other relative teams. As the Application Lead you will work with Hardware and Software Leads for on-time releases. The role will be responsible to develop engineering solutions and release for final design to production. This includes the opportunity to develop design alternatives and present these designs to management.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and track Engineering Change Work Order for release documentation and changes
- Timing and part availability
- Initiating/conducting DFMEA
- Manage supplier resident engineer to release Calibration/XML and to resolve cluster related issues
- Manage Change Requests and Problem Resolution Tracking System
- Coordinate design of component with vehicle changes
- Initiate, analyze and revise design if test/ manufacturing/ field problem is show in test reports and implement problem resolution
- Support Manufacturing &Service Engineering, Product Engineering, and Product Launch
- Support and work with Quality lead to investigate warranty issue and
- Assist with the preparation of owner's manual.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
- A minimum of three years of relevant engineering experience
- Previous experience working with Instrument Panels / Clusters
- Previous experience in a Design / Release Engineering role
- Experience with microcontrollers
- Very good interpersonal skills: ability to work within GM, with suppliers, and with program teams
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple activities, while remaining self-motivated and directed
- Problem solving proficiency
- This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
