Industrial/Facilities Engineer - Design Fabrication
Description
General Motors is seeking an Industrial Engineer with experience in the procurement and facility integration of fabrication/manufacturing equipment technologies. A focus on workplace organization, and experience in the implementation and documentation of comprehensive safety systems is required.
This job is primarily onsite but there is some room for flexibility based on our Work Appropriately model.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibits a safety mindset while identifying, taking ownership, and resolving safety concerns and supporting the safety champions of each space in Design Center and GM Partners
- Demonstrate behaviors that support diversity and inclusion within the organization
- Collaborate with DCF Leadership, Supervision, SMEs, and UAW Staff, relative to site or technology improvements in the DCF Shops
- Participate in G-Risk safety assessments, G-Comply processes, and Safety Contract Management initiatives
- Participate in project site assessments including utility and structural recommendations, layout and engineering drawings and coordinate with Sustainable Workplaces, engineering firms and general contractors and suppliers
- Responsible for analysis, recommendations, and project management for workplace optimization including process diagrams
- Coordinate machine and equipment installations with GM Sustainable Workplaces, General Contractors and UAW or Skilled Trades
- Provide technical support to Application Engineers for all projects
- Participate in estimating project costs and implementation timelines for facility/equipment improvements
- Issue technical reports and make presentations to management
- Use computer-assisted design and drafting software to create the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency

Required Skills and Experience:
- Experienced in following project plans, coordinating cross-functionally and scheduling with GM Sustainable Workplaces, Facility Engineering, General Contractors, and Suppliers
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems
- Experienced in participating on multiple teams working on a variety of concurrent projects
- Proficiency in implementation of Work-Place-Organization principles
- Demonstrated ability to manage an exceptionally high workload, while being very innovative and displaying outstanding initiative
- Experience in coordinating/delegating tasks among team members for multiple projects
- Experience with a variety of technologies and facility requirements associated with a Fabrication/Prototype operation
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Experienced in the creation of facility layouts using CAD software
- 3 plus years of experience in Industrial/Facility Engineering
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Skilled at dealing with and reconciling ambiguity
- Demonstrated ability at building effective teams
- Experience in working with UAW or Skilled Trades resources
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with teams and suppliers to ensure successful project completion
