We are seeking a Associate Test Developer to join our English Language Learning team Pearson. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Proficiency Tests. The role of the Associate Test Developer is to manage item writing, review items and assets, construct test forms, review tests, troubleshoot issues, and review scoring for a new 4-skills, mid-stakes English proficiency test.

This is a remote, full-time, 18-month contract position and is eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage item writing commissions
  • Review items and assets and revise as necessary
  • Work with voice talents to record items, and review and edit recordings
  • Construct test forms according to test blueprint
  • Sit tests as part of the QA process and troubleshoot issues
  • Review candidates' test results and comment on scoring
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Test Development Managers and Product Management team


Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in a language-related field, such as Linguistics, TESOL, Language Studies, or ESL/EFL
  • 1-2 years of job experience in an education-related industry
  • Familiarity with CEFR
  • Experience with Excel and basic formulas
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Must be able to successfully work independently and remotely from a home office
  • Ability to grasp new technology development and testing platforms
  • Familiarity with SQL is a plus
  • Experience teaching English language learners is a plus
  • Experience in the educational testing and assessment industry is a plus


As required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $60,000-65,000. This position is not bonus eligible, and information on benefits offered is here.
