Associate Project Engineer

Working as a Associate Project Engineer, you will be the authority/support person for various engineering projects in Energy Service, Process Automation Energy Industries (PAEN), providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals.You will be part of a team and responsible for engineering and programming distributed controls systems in our Process Automation, Energy Industries team. This position will include all aspects of a project including creating and reading logic and flow diagrams, programming, HMI (Human Machine Interface), simulation, enclosure design, testing and start up.

Your responsibilities

  • Work as part of an integrated design team to meet project requirements and deliverables
  • Work with Customer to understand details of the process to be controlled
  • Conduct reviews of application design with Customer and ABB project team to ensure that the control requirements have been captured correctly
  • Design and test automation enclosures with ABB or third party process automation
  • Implement the control application code using ABB or third party process automation engineering tools
  • Develop simulation
  • Design and test graphics
  • Complete testing of the new control application

Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemical, Electrical or Computer Science preferred and 0 to 2 years of experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience in control system applications software programming and troubleshooting is preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of programming techniques is preferred
  • Proficient in standard workstation tools: Microsoft® Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint®)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and work with diverse discipline project teams
  • Ability to learn new methods and technologies
  • Attention to detail
  • Candidate must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time
  • Position will be based in Cleveland, OH or Houston, TX
  • Reimbursement for relocation is not available
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
