Application Engineer - Drives Service

In this role, you will be the technical point person for the Drives Service - Motion, providing technical solutions and advice on ABB products, systems and applications.Reporting to the Director-Sales & Marketing, Drives Services, you will provide technical expertise to the sales team, the sales channel, technical support, product engineering, R&D and the end customers. The areas of technical expertise include but are not limited to, ABB drives service product knowledge, drives service product application and general drive and motor application issues.This position is graded as global grade 14.
Your responsibilities

• Provide component/part level engineering lifecycle support for legacy drives systems in qualifying new upgrades and solutions to replace obsolete drive system components
• Apply Technical Knowledge - Design and recommend tailored service solutions based on a deep knowledge of the portfolio and capabilities to meet customers' unique needs and Contribute to specification by negotiating deviations and agreeing on win-win solutions
• Advise others on the delivery of high-quality solutions by applying broad and deep professional expertise on drives service portfolio
• Sales Drives Service - Continuously aim to meet targets even in difficult circumstances, Identify and systematically follow-up on business opportunities and Focus energy on key tasks, take extra measure to ensure customer satisfaction
• Customer Relations - Continuously strengthen existing customer relationships, Take the initiative to get to know new customers
• Market and Business Intelligence - Participate in sales meetings to become familiar with market and business information, identify opportunities for improvements based on structure customer feedback
• Sales Techniques - Know and confidently use basic sales techniques (e.g. communication, active listening, presentation), Take different viewpoints into consideration when creating a solution
• Develop engineering and installation work scopes, schedules and cost estimates to facilitate total scope project offerings. Put together quality and timely proposal documents, Contribute positively to sales, orders, profitability, and ITO quality goals

Your background

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and minimum 2 years of relevant experience
• Travel up to 50% of the time
• Valid US Driver's License required
• Experience with application or field engineering in Drives and Controls preferred
• Applying AC and DC drive solutions to customer's unique situations and proposal development knowledge preferred
• Customer training and presentation experience preferred
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
