MetroStar Systems is seeking a skilled Application Developer, Senior - Java with a passion for modern programming languages and keeping on top of the latest development trends. You’ll help engineer tools to modernization outdated paper-based process into digital that directly impact nationwide agencies via cutting edge cloud and software development practices. You're a great fit if:

• You are familiar and proficient with multiple languages such as React, JavaScript, Angular (previously AngularJS), Ruby, and/or Java.
• You have experience building and deploying complex applications in a cloud-native, DevSecOps environment
• You have prior experience coaching junior and mid-level team members to help them to troubleshoot technical blockers, grow professionally, and to guide the team’s velocity/performance

You'll love our Application Developer role if: (This is the stuff you MUST have to be a fit)

• You have 5 years of experience with Java development, as well as knowledge of JavaScript, Ruby, and/or Angular.
• You must be able to explain technical issues in plain language, providing options such as technical trade-offs and alternatives to non-technical staff and/or business owners
• You are very familiar with the Atlassian suite and supporting large-scale development efforts in an agile context (Kanban and Scrum)
• You have a bachelor’s degree and ability to obtain and maintain DHS Suitability

We'll REALLY love you if: (This is the bonus stuff that makes you stand out)

• You have a certification in AWS, Azure, and or Agile (e.g. CSM)
• You have experience with supporting Federal and/or commercial project which include up to 200+ developers in a highly dynamic agile environment
• You have experience building MVPs and prototypes to support exploration and adoption of new technologies
