Job DescriptionWe are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Engineer to join our Field Engineering Services team in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in traffic signals, highways, ITS or electrical engineering who enjoys working hands-on and wants to develop their technical expertise within a leading intelligent transport solutions business.
What you will do
As an Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and commissioning traffic signals, signs and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) equipment, ensuring our systems remain operational and meet customer specifications and contractual requirements.
You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose and resolve faults, support installations and commissioning, and help ensure we consistently deliver a high-quality service to our customers.
The role includes participation in a 24/7 standby and out-of-hours call-out rota, alongside occasional travel to other SWARCO locations where required.
You will also play an important role in maintaining our high standards across Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
QualificationsWhat we're looking for
We are particularly interested in people with experience in the traffic signals, highways, ITS, electrical or related engineering sectors.
Essential
GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, or equivalent
Basic electrical knowledge and fault-finding capability
Understanding of traffic signal controllers, roadside signs and associated equipment
Ability to carry out planned and reactive maintenance
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working at heights
Strong organisational skills and a proactive, professional approach
Self-motivated, reliable and safety conscious
Desirable
Electrical qualification or relevant engineering apprenticeship
Previous experience within traffic signals, highways, ITS or electrical infrastructure
Sector 8 accreditation, including relevant NRSWA, G39 or ECS qualifications
Experience commissioning traffic signal equipment
Knowledge of industry standards and traffic signal maintenance practices
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
