The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
The Opportunity
Allegro is seeking a highly analytical and proactive Engineer to join our Product, Maintenance & Equipment Engineering (PMEE) team. In this critical role, you will be the technical expert responsible for driving the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of our advanced test equipment. You will analyze downtime, enhance maintenance systems, and provide essential technical support to solve complex production challenges. This is an exceptional opportunity for a hands-on engineer who thrives on data-driven problem-solving and is passionate about optimizing manufacturing processes in a fast-paced, high-tech semiconductor environment.
What You Will Do
Drive Downtime Reduction & Analysis: Perform in-depth weekly and monthly downtime analysis using statistical tools and techniques to provide robust technical solutions and improve equipment uptime.
Enhance Maintenance Systems: Introduce and implement revised Preventive/Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) systems and procedures. Organize and plan all calibration and maintenance activities to maximize efficiency.
Lead Process Improvement: Initiate Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine, establish, and improve process capability. Introduce tracking systems to monitor and enhance process performance and find solutions to reduce lot cycle time.
Provide Technical Leadership & Support: Offer expert technical support to maintenance operations and provide guidance to staff. Ensure that established programs and solutions to increase uptime and resolve equipment problems are effectively carried out.
Troubleshoot Quality & Equipment Issues: Investigate and analyze quality-related problems in production using electronic, mechanical, or procedural means. Oversee line performance and ensure all equipment is operational with its full capability intact.
Manage Spares & Budget: Assess and analyze spare parts inventory, consumption, and life cycles. Perform procurement of sustaining parts and coordinate with purchasing on delivery status. Control and monitor the PMEE budget, generate expense reports, and provide variance explanations.
Collaborate with External Partners: Engage with equipment manufacturers for technical support and research new generation materials and parts available in the market.
Champion Quality & Safety: Champion 5S in all areas and ensure compliance with all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Manufacturing Quality standards.
For Test Product/System Specific Responsibilities:
Conduct tester Preventive Maintenance (PM), Calibration, and GR&R data generation and analysis according to company standards.
Lead the resolution of standard-level test system performance issues on the line, including high-level troubleshooting and repair of hardware, testers, and peripherals.
Utilize your capability to debug test programs and recommend necessary revisions.
Manage the installation and de-installation of testers.
What Will You Bring?
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
Alternatively, a college-level education with at least five (5) years of equivalent work experience in the same position.
Strong knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical theories, with familiarity in using electrical, electronic, and mechanical tools and instruments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to perform SPC programs.
Capability to perform Design of Experiments (DOE) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) as needed.
Hands-on experience with modern and the latest Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and/or Test Systems.
Knowledge of statistical tools and techniques.
Familiarity with company quality systems and standards.
