Senior Test Engineer - Product Development
About the Role
As a Senior Test Engineer in our Product Development team, focused on Test Development Operations (TDO) you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment throughout in the development phases of product development and manufacturing.
With minimal guidance, you will lead the preparation of test equipment and diagnostic programs and systems, design test development operations processes, best practices, and develop comprehensive specifications and procedures for new products. You will independently plan labor, schedules, and equipment requirements for testing and evaluating both standard and specialized devices, while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement in test development operations, ensuring optimal cost in doing test development and efficient use of resources in including labor deployment to support development activities..
Key Responsibilities

  • Test Case Development: Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive test development operations strategies and methodologies across multiple product lines, ensuring optimal cost and efficiency.
  • Procedure Development: Create and standardize test setups and procedures that ensure devices comply with industry and company standards, while optimizing for cost and efficiency.
  • Resource Planning: Independently plan and coordinate resources including labor, schedules, and equipment allocation across multiple projects to optimize testing activities and timelines.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve complex technical issues in systems and equipment throughout the development process, applying advanced analytical problem-solving techniques and leading troubleshooting efforts.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and optimize testing processes that exceed established quality standards and requirements, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Qualification Testing: Spearhead qualification efforts for multiple product lines to meet market standards and customer requirements, providing technical guidance to cross-functional teams.

Must Have Skills

  • Diagnostic Testing: Deep expertise in creating and executing sophisticated diagnostic programs to identify complex product defects and performance issues, with ability to adapt approaches for challenging scenarios.
  • Test Fixtures Design and troubleshooting: Significant experience designing and developing complex test fixtures and equipment that accurately measure product parameters under varied conditions, with attention to cost optimization.
  • Procedure Development: Mastery in defining robust test setups and writing comprehensive procedures that ensure consistent testing approaches and results across multiple product lines.
  • Resource Planning: Strong capability in developing resource strategies for testing activities across multiple projects, including optimizing schedules and equipment allocation for maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Demonstrated expertise in resolving complex technical problems in systems and equipment, including ability to lead troubleshooting efforts and mentor junior engineers.
  • Quality Assurance: Comprehensive knowledge of quality standards and ability to implement and improve testing processes to exceed quality requirements and industry benchmarks.
  • Qualification Testing: Thorough understanding of qualification testing methodologies and proven ability to lead qualification efforts for multiple product lines while anticipating market needs.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in test engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.
