Role Summary
- As a member of a multi-disciplined team, deliver layouts and spatial integration of electrical systems (switchgear, cable trays, conduits, transformers) (including power generation and distribution, protection, power conversion, energy storage, control and automation) ensuring the design meets customer, contract, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support Layout Design: Assist in the creation of electrical layout drawings (Overall plant layout, cable trays routing, conduit routing, Lighting layout, Lightning protection layout, Earthing layout and equipment positioning) using 3D modeling and CAD software.
- Clash Coordination: Perform basic interference checks to ensure electrical infrastructure does not conflict with mechanical piping or structural elements.
- Field Data Collection: Conduct regular site visits to measure and document existing conditions, ensuring our digital models accurately reflect the physical plant.
- Support Mechanical Design: Assist in designing simple mechanical supports, brackets, and frames required to mount electrical cabinets and cable trays.
- Maintenance & Documentation: Help update "As-Built" drawings and maintain the document control system under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Contractor Coordination: Assist the project team in communicating layout requirements to installation contractors and answering basic technical questions on-site.
- Safety Compliance: Assist in verifying that all layouts follow safety protocols and maintain required clearance distances for maintenance access.
- Oversee the progress of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Ensure all designs and projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
- Conduct thorough site visits to assess project conditions, ensure adherence to design specifications, and address any issues that arise.
- Evaluate environmental factors and their potential effects on project outcomes, incorporating innovative solutions where appropriate.
- Work closely with architects, urban planners, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical, civil and structural engineering aspects into broader project plans.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and ensure client satisfaction.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in plant engineering, construction, or heavy industrial facility design is highly preferred with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- CAD Software: Proficiency in advanced CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
- 3D Modeling and Simulation: Strong aptitude for spatial visualization and 3D modeling.
- Ability to adapt and multitask with project / application engineers
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- PLM, Primavera experience are added advantage
