The Supplier Engineer is a key member of the supplier engineering group, which is part of Insulet’s Procurement organization. Insulet manages a global supply chain and sources precision custom components and commodities from around the world for use in its devices. The Supplier Engineer works closely with peers and leaders in internal Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, to implement new capital tooling and equipment at suppliers, execute improvement projects, resolve business-critical technical issues, troubleshoot assembly issues on the manufacturing floor, and investigate and lead corrective actions in response to quality issues across the supply base. The ideal candidate has experience working with suppliers of custom precision components for use in medical devices as well as troubleshooting high speed automation equipment. Candidates should enjoy the factory setting and be comfortable interfacing with and influencing supplier personnel ranging from shop floor operators to leadership.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and execute systematic root cause investigation efforts on the manufacturing floor.
Execute site-specific assembly validations of new supplier tooling. Author validation reports and process through product lifecycle management portal.
Identify, justify, and implement continuous improvement projects related to component assembly.
Maintain within-hours response time to Operations team component escalations.
Assist in the containment, investigation, corrective and preventive action of quality issues relating to supplier parts.
Establish and maintain relationship with tier 1suppliers; communicate opportunities for continuous improvement in supplier processes.
Lead and influence cross-functional teams toward continuous improvement goals.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
BS Engineering degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing/Industrial, BioMedical, Chemical, Plastics)
3-5 years manufacturing experience required, high volume medical device in a cGMP environment (preferred)
Proven track record using common root cause analysis & process improvement tools (A3, 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, DOE, regression, etc.)
Experience with at least 3 of the following manufacturing processes: injection molding, sheet metal stamping, spring forming, PCBA, automated assembly/packaging
Validation experience in the context of a highly regulated environment i.e. IQ/OQ/PQ
Strong statistical competency in popular softwares (minitab, JMP).
Mechanical drawing literacy, knowledge of basic GD&T callouts (run-out, true position, etc), working knowledge of tolerance stack analysis, novice-intermediate solidworks experience.
Strong Written and Verbal communication skills
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with relevant projects preferred

Additional Information:
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $66,500.00 - $99,950.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
