Overall Job Summary:
The Senior Certification Test Engineer is responsible for executing certification and compliance testing activities, evaluating product performance against established requirements, troubleshooting compliance issues, and supporting certification efforts through technical analysis and validation. This role serves as the testing subject matter expert and partners closely with Compliance Engineering, Product Development, Quality, and external laboratories.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute certification, validation, and compliance testing in accordance with established test plans and regulatory requirements.
- Perform hands-on testing of products, subsystems, and components in laboratory environments.
- Analyze test results and identify product nonconformances, compliance gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Investigate test failures and support root cause analysis activities to resolve compliance-related issues.
- Prepare detailed test reports, technical findings, and documentation to support certification submissions.
- Coordinate test sample preparation, instrumentation setup, and testing logistics with internal and external stakeholders.
- Review laboratory data and test results to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established requirements.
- Support compliance engineers during certification projects by providing technical testing expertise and recommendations.
- Collaborate with product development teams to evaluate design changes and assess impacts on certification testing outcomes.
- Monitor ongoing product compliance by supporting requalification, sustaining engineering, and change management activities.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and ensure laboratory practices meet applicable quality standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing test records, reports, and supporting technical documentation.
- Recommend improvements to testing processes, laboratory efficiency, and data collection methods.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline
- 8+ years of experience in product testing, verification, validation, certification testing, or regulatory compliance within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of engineering test methodologies and laboratory best practices.
- Ability to execute complex test plans and accurately document results.
- Proficiency in analyzing test data, identifying trends, and providing technical recommendations.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, reliability, and performance testing methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical standards.
- Experience using laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, data loggers, environmental chambers, and similar equipment.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise test reports.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Compliance teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering data management systems.
- Ability to work independently while providing technical leadership and guidance to others.

May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
