As a Software Engineer, you must possess world class technical skills and a strong sense of empathy for your fellow developers.  You will work closely with other talented engineers, architects, and senior stakeholders to architect, implement, and deliver on our roadmap. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

  • You have a developer first mentality with a deep empathy for the challenges of modern software development. 
  • You have a demonstrated track record of full-lifecycle product development from inception to happy customers. 
  • You are comfortable presenting your ideas to all levels of management including technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • You will participate in our inner sourcing/open sourcing strategy and help drive ResMed’s developer community in that direction. 
  • Exhibit a cloud native mindset and support our architecture towards it. 
  • Drive and lead the development of application components or services.
  • Bring thought leadership to all facets of our development environment (architecture, process, tools, technologies) and help the company set technical direction. 
  • Participating in the design and creation of scalable software.
  • Writing clean, functional code on the front- and back-end.
  • Collaborate across the team to drive consensus and understanding. 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • You must be located within San Diego, California (or surrounding areas)
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 
  • 7+ years of full stack software development experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in public cloud (AWS) in building services using cloud native technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, serverless, etc. 
  • 2+ years of experience working on web front ends with ReactJS, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with API Design and exhibits an API Design first approach to development.
  • Experience with Open API specifications.
  • Experience delivering large and small codebases across multiple languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, etc. 
  • Experience with SQL and databases in general.
  • Experience with secure coding practices such as the OWASP Top 10.
  • Strongly held test practices regardless of language or tools. 
  • Experience using automated testing tools.
  • Experience working in an Agile SCRUM environment.
  • Record of delivering documentation alongside code using frameworks such as Markdown. 
  • Deep knowledge of source control, branching & release strategies, pull requests and automated quality gates using tools such as GitHub or Bitbucket. 
  • Demonstrate deep experience in rethinking/reimagining existing product/platform architectures as they migrate to the cloud.  This includes decomposing monoliths, scalability, resiliency, observability, and security. 
  • Ability to articulate and implement a vision while inspiring our large developer community to join forces.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.

Subject to the absolute discretion of the company, this role is eligible for an annual cash bonus payment based on company, business unit, and/or individual performance.

At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.  A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is:

Total Base Pay Range

  • 104,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual
