Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Performing all required project RAMS tasks at spacecraft system level, subsystem level or equipment level (unmanned and manned spacecraft)

  • Performing safety assessments at different product maturity stages (safety phases I, II and III)

  • Performing safety assessments for operations, remove & repair activities

  • Establishing reliability, availability and maintainability analyses.
  • Definition of operational controls/constraints

  • Create reliability, availability and maintainability analyse

  • Establishing FMECA, HSIA, fault tree analyses. Interfacing with equipment suppliers: Definition of RAMS requirements in contribution to specifications at equipment level Following the relevant design development to check the compliance to the defined requirements

  • Establishing Hazard analyses for spacecraft, equipment/instruments as well as for ground support equipment

  • Co-engineering with FDIR architects (failure detection, isolation and recovery

Required qualifications

The work task requires knowledge and skills, as can usually be achieved through a relevant, completed course of study with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications engineering or equivalent and related subject-specific additional qualification or completed vocational training with a corresponding, particularly extensive, subject-specific additional qualification. The overall knowledge and experience required may have been acquired in other ways

Desired skills

  • Profound knowledge in un-manned Space Systems, in particular payload system.

  • Working experience in the field of Safety and Reliability Engineering ideally in Aeronautical or Space sector

  • Profound knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Fault Tree Analysis

  • Knowledge of Safety processes, regulations and guidelines (ECSS-Q-ST-40C, ARP 4761, ARP 4754A) are welcome

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and strong sense of responsibility

  • High level of commitment, flexibility and a strong service mentality

  • Language skills: Fluent in written and spoken German and English (at least B2)

  • Willingness to travel on business at home and abroad
