Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Engineer Quality - Level 2 to join our team in Huntsville, AL supporting the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS).

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assure program and subcontractor quality compliance in accordance with contractual requirements.

  • Implement and enforce adherence to PrOP, engineering drawings, program processes, and work instructions to meet program quality objectives.

  • Support process control implementation, in-process and final inspections, quality review, and conduct internal process audits.

  • Analyze non-conformances and lead root cause investigations, documenting preventive and corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.

  • Prepare and maintain quality records, reports, and metrics in accordance with Northrop Grumman and industry standards.

  • Interpret and apply AS9100/ISO 9001, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Assurance Provisions (MAP), and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and MIL-STDs, including performing drawing reviews and approvals.

  • Lead documentation and resolution of hardware defects and quality non-conformances, including MRB activities.

  • Provide hardware production oversight, as needed, to ensure adherence to quality requirements and program objectives.

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce process and non-conformance risk.

Basic Qualifications (Level 2)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in:

    • Quality Assurance (e.g., investigating failures and identifying root causes), or

    • Manufacturing, Process, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering performing technical job functions;

OR

  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.

  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications (Level 2)

  • Proficiency with SAP (S4/HANA) for executing and documenting quality activities.

  • Experience using Jira to track work through Kanban-style workflows.

  • Experience supporting software quality activities (e.g., software process compliance, reviews, and defect tracking).

  • Experience writing or reviewing hardware engineering drawings.

  • IPC-620 CIS certification.

  • Experience supporting an MDA program that utilizes MAP requirements.

  • Experience conducting internal audits to ensure compliance to the AS9100 standard.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
