Job Description:
• Drive Process Engineering projects in the cluster/site from idea to
operational ramp up.
• Provide input and suggestions to the local cluster management.
Initiate ideas and set priorities together with the internal customer
• Support dust reduction and HS campaigns
• Define specifications and estimate process parameters to enable the
most suitable Project Delivery Model
• Support the evaluation of technical and economic feasibility of
projects
• Organize trials (lab and/or industrial) and use specific simulation
software to develop the block flow diagrams and process flow sheet
• Initiate the Project Cost estimation, assessing a preliminary order of
magnitude on the defined scope and on the block flow diagrams /
flow sheet
• Support Project Planning and Execution
• Participate in project commissioning by assisting and training the
operators and successfully transfer the project to the line
• Write manuals and instructions on process equipment
• Ensure Quality Control all along the project delivery
. Design new, innovative minerals and materials processes and adapt
existing ones to improve efficiency, safety, sustainability and cost
efficiency.
• Conduct technical and/or operational ad-hoc audits on specific need
basis, in accordance with the Sibelco Process Audit Guidelines.
• Evaluate the minerals and materials processes and identify
unnecessary complexities or flaws.
• Analyse technical equipment, quality/production data, operational
data, etc.
• Trouble shooting
• Support installation of control systems, sketching the more suitable
philosophy control
• Provide input for recommendations in clear audit reports
• Support Sibelco production sites to promote operational excellence
and provide technical best practices and to ensure safe (HSEcompliant), efficient, effective, innovative, scalable and sustainable
operations.
• Support in case of production issues or customer complaints
• Advise other departments on how to maximize the efficiency of
existing installations by suggesting improvements and
debottlenecking. For example:
o T&I: industrialize solutions proposed by T&I and assist in
long term developments
o Sustainability: assist in alternative energy or CO2 reduction
related projects
o Health & Safety: assist in HS campaigns throughout OPS
o Procurement: assist during the technical assessment of
alternative suppliers
• Lead and /or participate (hands-on) in activities related to the
Operational Excellence (OpEX) program in the cluster. He /She
leads research and develop new ideas or solutions that contribute
to create plants and systems in a cost-effective and efficient way.
• Stay up to date with new process engineering technologies and
innovation in the industry
• Participate in project review to implement lessons learned in
following phases/projects
• Act as change agent of the OpEx cluster transformation
• Ensure a sustainable OpEx way of working overtime and train the
Operations team in the OpEx handbook, tools and techniques.
• Drive specific OpEx projects.
• Support OEE performance dialogues and problem-solving matrix
tool
• Promote, lead or participate in problem solving sessions, idea
generation workshop and kaizen
• Active user of Lean & Six Sigma tools
• Perform Overall Process Efficiency (OPE) observations
Share knowledge and good practices with peers and project
stakeholders by proper reporting in the relevant system
• Following project lifecycle management and approval process and
the engineering handbooks, act as project manager in the scope of
the cluster
• Ensure the right connection between internal Project stakeholders
and external Engineers Process.
• Estimates and requires support and guidance from global
engineering

Skills Required
- Experience driving process engineering projects from concept to commissioning
- Experience with process simulation software and developing block flow diagrams/flow sheets
- Practical use of Lean and Six Sigma tools
- Experience with Operational Excellence programs, OEE and Kaizen workshops
- Troubleshooting, commissioning and operator training experience
- Ability to organize lab and industrial trials and evaluate technical/economic feasibility
- Knowledge of HSE/health & safety campaigns and ensuring HSE compliance in projects
- Ability to write technical manuals, instructions and clear audit/project reports
