Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Engineer/Principal Manufacturing Engineer Level 2/3 supporting out Production Engineering and Operations (PE&O) organization. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on site in Melbourne, FL where technology and teamwork come together. This position is on-site only, and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role.
Manufacturing Engineering job duties involve the following:
- Provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure the best manufacturing technique is being used to meet the Engineering design.
- Participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs during assembly.
- Define sequence of operations for product builds.
- Investigate and initiate corrective actions and improvements that involve non-conforming product.
- Identify improvement opportunities in areas that require producibility and affordability initiatives.
Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems. They are problem solvers who can provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives. We seek Manufacturing Engineers that use a unique skill set that includes a hands-on approach and act as the technical representative voice for the Manufacturing organization.
This shift will be Monday to Thursdays (4/10 work schedules) phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment. This requisition may be filled at a Manufacturing Engineer / Principal Manufacturing Engineer Level 2/3 based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications
Manufacturing Engineer Level 2:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 1 year of related engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 0 years of experience
- Active DOD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5.5 years.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.
Principal Manufacturing Engineer Level 3:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM and 4 years of related engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of related engineering experience
- Active DOD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5.5 years.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program within a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active in-scope Program Access
- Experience in NX, Catia, CAD, and or with related Computer aided design programs.
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Manufacturing work instructions or instruction authoring experience.
- Experience with developing enhancement processes that improve production shop floor efficiencies.
- Experience with reviewing engineering models during concept design phase for manufacturing producibility.
- Excellent communicator, ability to provide product improvement proposals and present to engineering designers and technical team for approval.
- Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.
- Aerospace Defense Manufacturing experience.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and/or Microsoft PowerPoint).
