Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer/ Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The Principal Engineer / Engineer Systems will perform requirements analysis and requirements verification activities.

We are seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer (SE) to provide technical support to a high visibility capability upgrade program. The successful candidate will coordinate with all SE disciplines—Safety, Requirements & Verification, Specialty Engineering, etc. —towards ensuring the program goals are appropriately met for Requirements & Verification.  This role demands a technically driven and organized individual, whom supports the overall goals of the team and program.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Support Spec Development (to include creation of verification statements)
  • Support internal (NGAS) technical meetings
  • Requirements & Verification Management (DOORS)/JIRA
  • Ensure requirements are captured, traced, and verified throughout the lifecycle.
  • Participate in working group discussions with government customers

Basic Qualifications:

For Engineer (Level 2):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Master's Degree and 0 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering.

For Principal Engineer (Level 3):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Master's Degree and 3 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Ph.D. and 1 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering.

Applicable For Both Levels:

  • Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by business needs.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering principles
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more Systems Engineering processes, including (but not limited to) requirements development & management, system modeling, system architecture development, interface traceability, integration & test, and verification & validation.
  • Broad experience with systems engineering applied throughout the systems “V” lifecycle model.
  • Proficiency in requirements management and tools such as IBM DOORS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Atlassian software and collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence).
  • An active, In-scope DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Previous or existing Program Access Request (PAR).
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and learn independently once trained.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment.
  • Proficiency in Model-Based tools (e.g., Cameo).

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
