JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and operate broadcast automation systems for 24 hours transmission of ASTRO local & regional Playout TV channels and live events, recover systems under failure conditions and returning the station to stable operation
  • Accountable for the 99.9% of all Local as well as Regional Playout channels service availability with minimal operational error throughout the 12 hours flexible shift duty.
  • Monitor and perform Live/ Playout service recovery and BCP whenever required not limited to system related downtime but also during planned / unplanned maintenance activities which impacts the operation.
  • Ensure playlists are received without discrepancy from all Playout channels schedulers / planners for current day as well as future transmission.
  • Execution of secondary events (graphic animation, crawler etc) trigerring when required.
  • Execute manual program / content changes, epg updates for both Playout & Regional business channel during none office hours .e.g repeat of live events,  ad hoc changes made basis when required.
  • Provide shift operation related data and information for daily operations as well as periodic data analysis report.
  • Assist Senior Engineer to supervise and organize shift operations activities during the absent of Senior Engineer.
  • To conceptual, plan and coordinate presentation for smooth live events.
  • To ensure incoming live feed AV quality meet ASTRO technical specifications and able to operate presentation/broadcast equipment’s.
  • To operate presentation equipment such as Vision Mixer, Audio Mixer, graphics and automation system.
  • Liaise with Studio Operations, Master Control Room, Quality & Compliance, Content & Presentation and also Outside Broadcast for live events and transmission for ASTRO & Regional channels.
  • Ensure smooth live presentation on air and adhere to the guidelines as stipulated by the relevant authorities. i.e. Broadcast Laws, Regulatory Framework & Environment.
  • Ensuring all recording / ingest for broadcast requirement executed and delivered
  • Managing all transmission aggregation across all relevant units
  • To follow up with source provider and escalation on pending feed related issues
  • Manage all feed contribution and configuration for all incoming feed
  • To produce detail Live transmission, Feed aggregation and Playout report

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree in electronic / electrical engineering / communication engineering, Computer Science or related fields with minimum 1 to 2 years' experience in related fields (Broadcasting/Postproduction/Studio Production, etc).
  • Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • PC literate, knowledge in database applications, e.g. Microsoft Access and systems drawings, e.g. Visio, AutoCAD will be an added advantage but not essential
  • Terrestrial/Multi-Channel Television Broadcast knowledge is an added advantage
  • Able to operate under emergency/high pressure conditions and willing to work in shift hours and prepare to work on off day

              REQUIREMENTS:

              • Knowledge and Professional Certification in Cloud Computing (i.e. AWS), Networking i.e. CCNA is an added advantage.
              • Able to understand failure mechanisms of complex computer-based systems.
              • Effectively apply communication skills to build and maintain internal relationships.
              • Must be willing to work on irregular hours or on weekends to complete critical assignments. § Able to work effectively under pressure. § Highly Passionate to Make Things Happen

              Skills Required

              • Bachelor's degree in electronic/electrical/communication engineering, Computer Science or related field
              • 1 to 2 years experience in broadcasting/postproduction/studio production (fresh graduates encouraged)
              • Ability to operate presentation equipment (vision mixer, audio mixer, graphics, automation systems)
              • Operate and recover broadcast automation systems; ensure 99.9% playout availability and execute service recovery/BCP
              • PC literate; knowledge of database applications (Microsoft Access) and system drawings (Visio, AutoCAD)
              • Knowledge of terrestrial/multi-channel television broadcast operations
              • Knowledge or certification in cloud computing (AWS) and networking (CCNA)
              • Understand failure mechanisms of complex computer-based systems
              • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external teams
              • Willingness to work shifts, irregular hours and weekends; perform under high pressure
