As the Engineer - Industrial, you will be responsible for supporting the Engineering team in driving operational efficiency, labor productivity, and optimized product flow across fulfillment operations. You will be accountable for contributing to the design and continuous improvement of facility layouts, labor standards, and process engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, governance, and maintenance of engineered labor standards across fulfillment processes
- Conduct time studies and activity-level labor modeling to support productivity improvements
- Support facility layout design and workflow optimization for new builds, retrofits, and expansions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Lean, Analytics) to evaluate the labor impact of WMS changes including slotting, task logic, and pick paths
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by embedding labor standards and validating performance against benchmarks
- Analyze data to support labor forecasting, productivity tracking, and performance reporting
- Contribute to the development of scalable process solutions that enhance throughput and space utilization
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree – Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field required
- Masters Degree – MBA preferred
- LEAN Six Sigma designation preferred
- 2 years of experience in industrial or operations engineering environment
- Experience working in fulfillment or distribution environment
- Familiarity with time study techniques and labor standard development
- Understanding of WMS/LMS systems and their impact on labor and process efficiency
- Experience with facility layout and process design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, simulation software)
- Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, or similar)
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
- Ability to travel 25% - 50%
Working Environment: Warehouse – Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderately quiet. Generally well ventilated and well lighted. Warehouse employees may be exposed to all kinds of weather and may be required to wear protective clothing. Operates heavy equipment. Strict safety regulations may be required.
