Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer III to provide technical leadership and actively engage in the design, development, implementation, and support of multi-layered enterprise applications. This role involves performing software development lifecycle activities, serving as a technical leader and mentor to other engineers, and acting as a subject matter expert in various aspects of software engineering best practices. The ideal candidate will explore emerging technologies, anticipate industry disruptions, and document solutions through comprehensive documentation and coding standards.
Essential Job Functions:
Technical Leadership: Lead the technical analysis, design, and development of complex changes or project milestones across multiple systems within a platform. This includes troubleshooting, containment, issue resolution, and root cause analysis.
Project Execution: Lead and execute technical initiatives that span across multiple systems, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
Mentorship: Mentor Software Engineers I and II, providing guidance on technical and data analysis, problem-solving, and code reviews to enhance team capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage with stakeholders through verbal interviews and other data-gathering activities to support the development and enhancement of applications and services.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment by participating in educational opportunities.
Collaboration: Work with business analysts and customers to resolve problems and plan for future needs, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within an established office environment.
User Interaction: Collaborate with users to understand system usage and identify enhancement or modification needs.
System Design: Utilize computer and analysis knowledge to analyze, design, and develop new application systems, including designing color-enhanced computer screens.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive working knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, JPA, UNIX, SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, REST API, Web Services, Web/Mobile-based applications, and Cloud products, specifically Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and eCommerce/Order Management.
- Demonstrable knowledge of current application development techniques, such as object-oriented and client/server architectures.
- Professional experience writing software across multiple layers of the application stack (front-end, back-end, data, and database technology).
- Experience in a team-oriented, cross-functional work environment with formal structures, roles, and responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
- Familiarity with SecDevOps practices and principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, with 5-8 years of technical, analytical, systems, and programming experience.
