EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Customer Network Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage your expertise in troubleshooting and engineering large-scale customer networks to develop and implement automated processes that improve efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with team members to gather requirements and design scalable, secure, and maintainable workflows, integrating cloud networking experience where applicable.
- Create and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks, optimize operations, and reduce manual effort.
- Analyze vendor-specific API documentation to develop vendor-agnostic solutions for day-to-day network management activities.
- Work autonomously and self-direct while thriving in a team environment.
- Deliver customer-facing projects and demonstrate solutions following Agile methodology.
- Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) effectively, ensuring collaborative and efficient development workflows.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers, analyzing and troubleshooting issues.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth, sharing knowledge and insights to strengthen team capabilities.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years' experience in related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python programming for network automation
- Deep understanding of network infrastructure, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, ARP, VLAN), and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, VPNs, SD-WAN).
- Experience with creating and using RESTful APIs
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex network and software issues.
- Experience with network vendors like Fortinet, Velocloud and Meraki and certifications
- Knowledge of containerization and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of DevOps practices and tools.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.

Annual Salary: $93,500.00 - $117,000.00
