Pay Rate: $75,000 - $85,000 / year

Summary:
As Engineer II on the Advanced Product Development team, you will coordinate and develop new internal combustion engines systems, including parts and accessories, for use primarily in the power generation market, as well as continuing support of the existing PSI product lineup. You will participate in projects involving the development, validation and testing of the design, fabrication, and manufacture of complex systems or processes. This position includes coordination between engineering teams working in mechanical, electrical, electro- mechanical, fuel systems, simulation, and controls.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate component and system validation testing for internal combustion base engine or engine application projects to analyze durability and design feasibility of potential products using a variety of statistical tools and methodologies. Proactively seek and implement tools and methodologies to effectively analyze data and drive the product development process forward.
- Understand and translate the customer perspective and expectations into technical solutions incorporating both forward thinking, big picture problem solving with highly technical data collection and analysis.
- Proactively address potential design challenges including the validation of designs to meet regulation standards and efficient production operations.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate design and testing solutions with vendors, manufacturing operations, customer service, and design engineering teams.
- Lead small projects to support engineering team on processes and standards to improve and enhance organizational capability.
- Lead projects to support Customer Service teams with customer field issues utilizing the 8D process
- Adhere to all safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and navigating the plant with alert behavior.
- All other duties assigned by management, including travel to other PSI facilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related Engineering discipline.
- 2 plus years’ experience in a related engineering position
- Subject matter expertise and/or aptitude of the mechanical and electrical aspects of internal combustion engines including engine components, accessories and electrical
- Exhibit ownership and initiative in troubleshooting, proactively solving design challenges, and learning new skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of 8D Root Cause Analysis
- Knowledge and/or experience with engine applications for the industrial, power generation, and/or on-highway industries
- Experience with a wide variety of engine fuels including diesel, gasoline, propane, and natural gas
- Experience designing systems with SolidWorks and/or knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerance) a plus
- Subject Matter Knowledge with demonstrated success in full life cycle design of internal combustion engines and systems including Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA) and GD&T (Geometric Dimension & Tolerance)
- Experience conducting, interpreting, and documenting testing for design and system validation - DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report)
- Demonstrated success in delivering system level application design projects and durability/development test plans and analysis, utilizing a variety of data analysis tools (MATLAB, Minitab, Python, Excel) to automate and accelerate the decision-making process
- Exhibit ownership and initiative in tackling complex problems both independently and collaboratively, solving design challenges, and learning new skills

Skills Required
