Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Business Unit & Location: Engineering Technology Center, Evoqua Water Technologies, Chennai - IndiaResponsibilities:
- Create 3D models, plant layouts, piping layouts, isometric generation and CAD drawings for Water and Wastewater treatment plants or any other process treatment plant.
- Create 3D models and CAD drawings of engineered products / process equipment, including creation of general arrangement, assembly and fabrication drawings.
- Understanding P&ID, PFD, Equipment / Pump datasheets, 3D design and detailing of skid-based water treatment systems like UF, RO, CEDI, CIP, UV, Softeners etc.,
- Conversion of 2D Drawings to 3D Models, modify, improve, and reverse engineering of existing designs and products.
- Create Bill of Materials (BOMs) in enterprise resource planning (ERP / SAP) system.
- Create and update meta data of designs and 3D models in PDM/PLM system (Vault Pro) for records, control and retrieval.
- Cross functional interaction / coordination to prepare plant layouts, piping layouts and GA drawings meeting the technical requirement.
Academic and Professional Requirements:
- BE., / B Tech in Mechanical Engineering with First Class.
- 3 to 5 years of hands of experience in 3D CAD using Autodesk Inventor. Exposure in AutoCAD and Solidworks will be an added advantage but not a must.
- Should have experience in “Frame generator” and “Tube & pipe” modules of Inventor.
- Experience in plant and equipment design & detail engineering in the domain of Water and Wastewater Treatment is preferred or similar experience in the Oil & Gas, Chemical process and Power plants can be considered.
- Experience in interconnecting piping, isometric generation, piping standards, material standards and codes applicable to water and wastewater treatment equipment and system are preferred.
- Experience in detail engineering of skid-based water treatment systems like UF, RO, CEDI, CIP, UV, Softeners etc., with structural design and detailing of skid frames, tank weldment assemblies are preferred.
- Experience in equipment / product design and detail engineering with fair knowledge of material specification, fabrication detailing, Limits, Fits, GD&T, are preferred.
- Exposure to MS Office package for preparing necessary documents, excel files and ppt’s will be an advantage.
- Experience in working with international teams towards engineering design will be an advantage.
- Good communication skills to liaise with international teams; Extra miler / self-driven to meet the commitments / goals. Be analytical and problem solving.
