Enbridge Gas North Carolina is seeking an Engineer II to join their natural gas Engineering Technical Services team.

This position will be located in Gastonia, NC (other NC locations may be considered).

What You Will Do:

This position will support one or more the following natural gas pipeline engineering activities:  Pipeline engineering, facilities engineering, development and maintenance of operating standards and procedures, corrosion engineering, measurement engineering, automation and controls, compression engineering and LNG engineering.  Accountabilities will include:

  • Primary accountability is delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering and design support in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide operations technical support and direction for engineering.
  • Deliver and lead Engineering Assessments, Capital, and Maintenance Projects designs
  • Support and lead Engineering Tasks for Integration Initiatives within the Team and the Broader Business to deliver optimization for Engineering and Operations including the specification and standards management Program
  • Coordinate with operations and construction stakeholders for relevant design requirements and reviews
  • Actively participate in risk review and asset management review sessions
  • Contribute to the various industry activities to support companies’ leadership position
  • Lead responses to request for changes submitted by stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Gas Control, Regional Operations, Construction and other Business Unit engineering teams

Who You Are:

Required:

  • 4+ years of direct experience in engineering design with a specific focus on electrical, mechanical, civil or other applicable discipline
  • 4+years' experience in engineering design, standards development, and frontline operations technical support within manufacturing, energy, consulting or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standard including DOT PHMSA regulations, API, ASME and other codes and standards related to the provision of engineering services.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder skills – both written and verbal to internal and external audiences
  • Facilitation, project management and analytical skills with the ability to establish good working relationships and communicate/work with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to advanced computer technology skills and able to learn new systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the state.
  • Current hold a Professional Engineering (P.E.) Designation or the ability to obtain one within a designated time.

Preferred:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation.
  • Previous experience in any of the following: Oil and Gas engineering design, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, QRA, and HAZOP methodologies for assessing risk and process safety
  • Experience with natural gas transmission and/or distribution, specifically for pipeline and facilities designs and associated packages. Specific experience related to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities

Education Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
  • Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Working Conditions:

  • We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office [Monday Tuesday and Thursday], two days of teleworking [Wednesday and Friday]) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
