The Engineer II is responsible for implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities and administer the department in compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates. Responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel’s mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the hotel and it’s grounds.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, maintenance of laundry equipment, ice machines, fire extinguishers and alarms, kitchen equipment, etc…) and any/all other equipment throughout the hotel.
- Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
- Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, pool, painting, and gardening).
- Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
- Communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
- Maintain hotel standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies.
- Coordinate compliance of service contracts.
- Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; trade/vocational certificate or related college coursework preferred.

Experience: 2+ years in hotel/resort or commercial building maintenance/engineering.

Technical Skills: Proficient in painting & drywall repair, HVAC (basic troubleshooting, filters/coils, thermostats), plumbing (fixtures, leaks, clogs), electrical (basic 120/208/277V, breakers, outlets/lighting), general mechanical systems, and pool/spa operations.

Systems: Familiar with CMMS/work-order tools (e.g., HotSOS/Quore) and able to read basic schematics/blueprints and equipment manuals.

Safety: Knowledge of OSHA practices, PPE, LOTO, ladder/electrical safety, and SDS/chemical handling.

Certifications (preferred): EPA 608 Type I/II, CPO, OSHA 10/30; relevant trade licenses a plus.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer-service mindset; organized and reliable with solid follow-through.

Availability: Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation as needed.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; climb ladders; work in hot/cold environments and confined spaces; lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
