Job Description:
Microchip Company is the world’s leading source of precise timing and synchronization solutions. We are looking for an embedded systems junior level software engineer to join our Santa Rosa Development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working on platform and technology building block for our network timing and synchronization range of products.
Responsibilities include:

Designing and implementing software: Creating scalable and optimized software systems for embedded devices and system.

Work on U-boot and Linux kernel modules.
-
Design and develop Linux Kernel Drivers.
-
Experience with UART, SPI and I2C interfaces.
-
Experience with Yocto framework.
-
Design and develop networking software and firewall iptables for PTP and NTP based server systems.
Requirements/Qualifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering
-
Minimum 2 years of experience developing embedded software
-
Linux Kernel and Peripheral drivers like Ethernet, Flash, SPI, I2C.
-
Bootloader (U-boot) and Linux Kernel Porting
-
Experience in IP protocols and networking software development.
-
Experience in Firewall, Routing, IPv4, IPv6, VLAN
-
Deep knowledge of Linux based embedded software design.
-
Deep knowledge of OS coding techniques such as processes, threads, interrupts, etc.

Proficient in C programming and shell scripts
-
Strong debugging skills using tools such as gdb, and Lauterbach.

Yocto framework

Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and PTP.

ARM or RISC-V based systems.

Linux Ethernet driver development

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) development

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $68,640 - $128,000.*
