Microchip is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer who has work experience in high-power applications, mainly in high-voltage converters & inverters which are based on Si/SiC Technology. Ideal candidates should possess expertise in high-voltage and high-power applications, focusing on device validation, characterization, testing and providing support for global customer activities related to SiC discrete and module products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand requirements, conduct necessary analysis, calculations, simulations to develop and evaluate power electronics design concepts for the SiC discrete, module products.
- Actively support system-level reference design activities such as development of analog/ digital circuits, switch mode power supplies, gate driver for Inverters and DC/DC converters etc.
- Characterize and validate SiC devices at application level as per customer requirements.
- Evaluate the concepts and feasibility of new products to achieve system-level performance and cost optimization while maintaining the quality standards.
- Maintain the design changes, BOM, other required documents for design support tools.
- Closely work with vendors for selection of new components that can be integrated into the designs wherever necessary.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics / Power Electronics Engineering with 3-5 years minimum work experience.
- Clear understanding and working experience of power electronics topologies such as Inverters, DC/DC converters (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Flyback, Half and Full bridge, Resonant, etc.).
- Experience in power semiconductor device, gate driver circuit design, losses, and thermal calculations.
- Experience in inductor, transformer and capacitor design & selection, preparation of specification and requirements.
- Experience in simulation tools such as LTspice, SIMPLIS, MPLAB Mindi, PSPICE, PLECS, MATLAB / SIMULINK & Mathcad.
- Experience in preparing high-power test-setup/plan, able to troubleshoot Device level Faults.
- Knowledge on EMC/EMI design and requirements as per the standards
- Experience in component stress analysis, worst case analysis, alternate component selection.
- Able to deliver assigned tasks on time as an individual contributor.
Added advantage:
- Experience with worst case analysis like DFMEA, FMEA, 8D, Fish bone analysis to trouble shoot the customer issue.
- Hands-on experience in Altium designer for schematic design, PCB layout.
- Board bring-up, PCBA rework/Soldering.
- Working knowledge on communication protocols TCP/IP, CAN, I2C, SPI, RS232
- Knowledge in Embedded HW, control logic, Low level firmware using C, C++.
