The PSM Engineer functions as lead role for the Process Safety Management (PSM) program and Risk Management Plan (RMP), including development and implementation of goals, standards, and expectations for the PSM/RMP programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the site lead for the plant’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
- Work with corporate HSE to develop and implement goals, standards, policies, and expectations regarding the company’s PSM program.
- Work with corporate HSE to coordinate compliance evaluations and necessary follow-ups and improvements.
- Work with plant personnel to implement Corporate-wide standards of performance relative to PSM
- Understand, participates in, and periodically reviews the plant’s Process Hazard Review (PHA) program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.
- Understand and periodically reviews the plant’s Management of Change (MOC) program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.
- Understand and periodically reviews the plant incident Investigation program and provides guidance and recommendations for improvement.
- Serve as the plant expert on PSM regulations and related issues.
- Analyzes plant data to discover trends in PSM performance.
- Acts as site PSM/RMP Coordinator to implement and ensure consistent application of the PSM/RMP program.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or similar technical degree with at least 5 years of relevant PSM experience, preferably in a chemical/petrochemical /refinery environment.
- Knowledge of PSM regulations, standards and procedures.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills, particularly with MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to effectively interact with Operations, Maintenance, Corporate, and governmental agencies.
